Admission to the MSW program is a two-part process. Applicants must complete an application to the Graduate College at Texas State and to the MSW program. Applicants should complete the Graduate College application in sufficient time so that their applications will be received by the School of Social Work before the MSW application deadlines. (As of 2008, we are no longer requiring the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). However, if an applicant believes the GRE scores would improve his/her application materials, the applicant may submit the GRE scores.)
Admission to the MSW program will be granted to applicants through the use of weighted multiple admissions criteria addressing the following:
A personal interview may be required of applicants prior to final acceptance into the program. Students who have received a degree from a Bachelor of Social Work Program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) may be eligible for the advanced standing track. All other students must enroll in the first year of the regular track. Initial enrollment for regular students (full-time and part-time) is in the fall. Enrollment for advanced standing students (full-time and part-time) is in the summer.
