Dr. Amy Benton, is an Associate Professor of Social Work at Texas State University. She received a Ph.D. in Social Welfare from University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to getting her doctorate, Dr. Benton worked for 10 years in the non-profit sector. Her primary areas of interest are management and administration of human service agencies, worker support, development and retention, and policy. Dr. Benton is currently PI of the BHWET project at the School of Social Work, providing training and support to advanced MSW students in order to increase the number of social workers prepared to provide trauma informed, culturally sensitive, evidence-based behavioral health prevention and intervention practices in integrated care settings.
