I have served as a faculty member and lecturer in the School of Social Work at Texas State University since 2018. I actually earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work from Texas State University. (once a Bobcat, Always a Bobcat)

I started my career working as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), within a residential treatment center. There I held several positions within the center that addressed the complex needs of substance use and co-occurring disorders. It was there I facilitated intensive counseling for individuals, groups, and families while maintaining a holistic approach to treatment.

My career transitioned to working with survivors of domestic violence and abuse. It was there that I worked diligently to secure partnerships and collaborations with local law enforcement and community partners for the betterment of the survivors. I was a keynote speaker for Chaparral Women’s Club in 2017 to bring awareness of such organizations and the statistics of abuse within the state of Texas.

My personal research interests (If I ever pursue this) would be centered around the technology addiction of emerging adults and its impact on communication, relationships, and self-image.

I served as a Board member for a local organization called The Wild Hope; TWH serves trafficking survivors while utilizing trauma-focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. I stopped serving on the board in January of 2021.

I facilitated a collaborative event between Social Work and Athletics at Texas State (right before COVID struck havoc) where I brought in a two-timed author to speak to students, coaches, faculty, and staff on the impacts of addiction, mental health, and resiliency. (March 2020).

Beyond the degrees and licensures, I am a proud Child of God, I am also a passionate, energetic, and ambitious woman striving every single day for longstanding change in this world. I love people, being a 5-year-old at heart, and speaking life into anyone I come across. Life is tough, and this world is dark at times, I will strive daily to be a light in this world.
