Ms. Stacy Stokes Batts earned her BSW and MSW from Texas State University and is currently working on earning her Ph.D. in social work from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.  Ms. Stokes Batts' professional experience as a licensed practitioner of 23 years focused on the field of substance abuse.  She worked in the non-profit sector for 15 years focusing on substance abuse classroom education, offender education, prevention, intervention, and coordinating out-patient treatment programs both in the community and in incarceration facilities.  Recently she has worked for 8 years in higher education, student affairs, focusing on substance abuse education, sanction completion, leadership development, and retention.  Her practice interests include mental health, family systems, and grief work, and her research interests focus on entertainment education and motivational interviewing as substance abuse intervention.  She is an active member of the Texas State University Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association, the founding advisor for The Echoes A Cappella Group at Texas State University, and the social work ethics consultant for Dancing Moose Productions, Inc.
