Due to Substance Use Disorders reaching epidemic proportions in the United States, most mental health professionals will likely encounter clients who suffer from this illness in their practice.
In an effort to provide you with the facts and realities of working with clients struggling with addictions, the BHWET project is offering a 1.5 hour online training specifically geared to inform an understanding of the challenges clients face and of the challenges you will face in treating them, particularly in dealing with co-occurring disorders.

About the Presenter: During the past 8 years, Brooks has been treating persons struggling with substance use disorders in a variety of treatment venues. While working as a Chemical Dependency Counselor, Brooks quickly realized that in order to be a well informed and effective practitioner, she would benefit from a higher level of training and education. To that end she earned both her BA and MS in Social Work from Texas State University. She continues to pursue further trainings in trauma informed practices and psychiatric disorders. Brooks is a passionate learner and teacher. In sharing her experiences and knowledge in the arena of addiction with fellow mental health professionals, Brooks hopes to help others achieve improved outcomes for persons seeking addiction recovery.
