Mr. Michael Gianotti, LMSW-IPR, ACSW

Field Liaison & Lecturer


Michael spent 10 years as the social worker and Guardianship Coordinator for the Travis County Probate Court in Austin. He conducted guardianship investigations and capacity assessments of any disabled adult individual(s) who were referred to the Court for possible guardianship. He provided case management and crisis intervention services to court-appointed guardians, was coordinator for the Volunteer Court Visitor Program and helped to monitor over 2,000 guardianship cases in Travis County.  He is a former adjunct lecturer at St. Edward’s University and has been a field instructor for social work interns from the University of Texas Steve Hicks School of Social Work and St. Edward’s University.

Michael is currently Secretary for the NASW/Texas Board of Directors and serves as Chair of the statewide Ethics Committee for NASW/Texas. He has been actively involved as a member of NASW since graduate school and has held elected leadership roles as Branch Chair for the Capital Area (Austin), Region 7 Board Representative, and has served on the NLIC (Nominations and Leadership Identification Committee) Committee, the Public Relations Committee, as well as the annual NASW/Texas Conference Committee.

Michael is a former committee member of the St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center Ethics Committee, the Texas Guardianship Association, and the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work.  Michael received his Bachelor’s in Psychology from St. Edward’s University and his MSW from Texas State University (SWT).
